Two mirror Images

Point of view from a Bunker under the sand in Sestri Levante that no one knows is a drawing realized with silver point, on eight separate sheets of unprepared paper displayed along an horizontal line. The image depicts a landscape of the entire Tigullio’s area as it appears seen from the top of a Bunker located under the current level of the street and hidden by the sand.
1 m2 of Bunker consists of a monochrome obtained mixing together gesso, glue, and lisca on canvas. The lisca is an endemic plant part of the undergrowth in Portofino area, used by fishermen for their fishing-net but it was also used by the German army, during WWII to build their Bunkers. The Bunker is a starting point for questioning about landscape, as it is both a kind of structure hidden in it and an optical instrument to look at the landscape itself. A paradoxal point of view from which develop two mirror images: the first one is a landscape of the entire Tigullio area accomplished with a mineral (silver point) on paper and the second one is a portion of the inner wall of a bunker on canvas, obtained combining together an organic material (a plant) gesso and glue.

L’immagine rappresenta l’intero golfo del Tigullio così come appare dalla cima di un Bunker che si trova attualmente al di sotto della superficie stradale e nascosto dalla sabbia.
1 m2 of Bunker consiste di un monocromo ottenuto mischiando gesso, colla e lisca su tela. La lisca è una pianta endemica dell’area ligure, usata dai pescatori per le loro reti, venne usata dalle truppe tedesche per costruire I Bunker dopo il cambio di fronte italiano. Il Bunker è un luogo da cui domandarsi circa il paesaggio. È sia una struttura nascosta nel paesaggio e uno strumento ottico sul paesaggio. Un punto di vista paradossale che sviluppa due immagini speculari e contraddittorie.
