Chiasmo

ALLEY is the project room of Giorgio Galotti gallery. In 2017 it moves to an antique 1700’s vitrine in the center of Turin to invite international artists to present site specific interventions, one for each season.

Times are changing and the weather with it. So after one year and half respecting the changing of the seasons in order to change the vitrines of Alley, we have decided to move up the arrival of the Summer revealing in advance the solstice with a double intervention by Giulio Saverio Rossi (1988, Massa).

The Chiasmo project presents a re-interpretation of the details and materials already existing in the identity of the showcase (wood and glass). On the right vitrine an oil painting represents the texture and the colors of the underlying wood, while in the other one on the left a canvas made by green silicon carbide, of the same size of the glass, represents the material from which the galls itself come from creating another interpretation of the glass. As in the rhetorical figure of the chiasmus, the work opens up to a vision of a tautological system, in which the empty display case (which already exhibits itself) is symbolically duplicated generating a play of nets and references implemented between opacity (silicon), transparency (glass) and image (oil painting).
