The image depicts a selenite crystal extracted in the 1960s from the Romagnola chalk vein. In painting gypsum is a material necessary for the imprinting of the canvas. In this work the material that normally remains invisible, under the different layers of colors, has emerged on the surface of the canvas. In a tautological short-circuit in which the painting paints itself.
